Excellent friendly service, the aircraft are in great condition, lovely and clean a pleasure to take friends and family up in

Was as cheap as going to the USA for me when I took all costs into account. The aircraft was excellent, no problems at all. And Keith was very flexible with regards to the lease. I can reccomend big red kite to anyone looking for a cost effective way to hour build.

Great fun and freedom, My own plane for a month! Thats how to hour build!
Jonathan Barry, London

Having passed my IR and CPL I was in need of building some hours to get my license issued. I contacted Keith at Big Red Kite and was straight away given a quote and available dates for me to rent the Aircraft. As I live in the area I flew the Aircraft from its home base of Membury. Although unlicensed Membury has two great runways, smoother than some licensed aerodromes I have flown from. After a quick check flight Keith left me to manage the aircraft and fly as and when I wished. Unfortunatly the weather wasn't so kind for the 2 weeks I had the Aircarft so I only managed to get half the hours completed. This wasn't a problem though and Keith refunded the unspent money no questions asked and within 4 days of dropping back the keys I had my deposit and unspent money back.
Many people believe going to America is the cheap option for hour building. However if you take into account the current exchange rate, flights and accomodation you're looking at up to £90 an hour. With some good fuel management a C152 from Big Red Kite can be as little as £70 an hour. Plus flying in the UK is very different to the USA and hour building in the UK will set you up perfectly for the CPL course.
Overall the Aircraft was in great condition, Keith was a pleasure to deal with and but for some awful weather I would have easily got all my hours complete at a great price. I would recomend anyone looking at hour building to give Big Red Kite a call.

Big Red Kite is without doubt the only way to hourbuild. You can easily be seduced by the attractive prices in the USA but once you add it up by including flights, accommodation, living, visa expenses and paperwork to fill out before you go it soon equals the price of flying in this country. The aeroplane will no doubt have been bashing the circuit and taken heavy landings by student pilots and yet you will still only get a certain slot of flying time per day, working around several other PPL's and students. By leasing you have an aeroplane sat there waiting for you, rather than you waiting on it, and you can take it wherever you like in order to gain the experience you need. This is another key point, 10 hours of flight in challenging circumstances really is worth more than a hundred hours of flying around blue florida skies (which actually in the summer are hidden by extremely black, tall CB's for a good 2 hours every afternoon)

I personally made it from Dunkeswell in Devon down to Arcachon in southern France and back, all in a simple C152, had a great holiday in the mean time as well as gaining the experience of international VFR flight rather than an hour round the local area that I've seen a hundred times before. I did my PPL in the states and I learned more in this section of 20 hours than i did in my whole time in America. So when it comes to leasing there are several 'gentleman's agreements' or non equity groups that may present themselves but none will be as straight froward and as simple as Big Red Kite. Keith is an extremely experienced engineer and a very honest, friendly and straight talking guy. As a consequence the state of the aircraft is top notch and the arrangement of the lease is very simple. Any problems would be dealt with very quickly and very efficiently. So I would say don't hesitate any longer, get in touch with Big Red Kite for the cheapest flying around and go enjoy and explore the skies!
