Below are a few pictures of the problems that can occour with Piper aircraft, as you can see the major issue is corrosion between the steel fittings and the aluminum alloy airframe.
This is the nose rib of a PA28 wing flap, as you can see the steel hinge attachment has become detached from the disintegrating flap ribs.
This shows the ribs removed from the flap (on the right) and (on the left) the new items awaiting installation.
These fittings are from the aft baggage bay and the corrosion is clearly seen on the old fitting.
The new baggage bay fitting can just be seen in the centre of the photo, also note the new panel fitted to the baggage bay floor this is a recommendation by Piper for corrosion inspection. Without it inspection and rectification of the aft spar attachments and aircraft step attachments are very difficult.
This is the rear spar attachment, the steel fitting survived the removal of the corrosion but the aluminum alloy spar fillet did not!
